Both sets of plans are fully adaptable, the only restriction of Design 1 being the size of trellis you are able to source. Also, find more specific information within the plans themselves.Īdapting the plans is easy. Although the modifications refer to the main pergola plans, the principles are the same. There are several reasons why you may wish to make modifications to the plans. I am currently building a pergola to connect my house to the garden, and I was a little unsure about some details concerning the rafters. Thank you for providing free information. With all the correct tools and materials at hand, this pergola should also only take a day to build, at the most. It has un-notched rafters sitting on the side rafter supports, which makes construction extremely straightforward. Lap below with a band at ground level, then a band and shakes in the peaks. This pergola design is also very easy to build. ![]() ![]() Looks like we're going to do to smartside LP siding. Luckily whoever built the garage didn't attempt to squeeze a door on the front like is so popular so they are appropriate size, just rotten. New man doors but in the same place and the same size. We're going to do two 30 inch wide 3ft high windows to replace what is there. We met in the middle with 100 series single hungs for the garage. Wife of course voted ones that match the house which are Anderson 400 series double hung. Fine for an uninsulated not heated garage, not ideal once it's heated. I figure we have 3 cars and soon two kids already, another garage is likely in my future so a lift and bigger doors will have to wait for that day.īack windows have to go, they are the typical 4ft wide swing up and in single pane garage jobbers. Bigger doors will have to wait for a bigger garage as lifting and adding height to this one has been ruled out. Eventually some newer insulated ones but not in the budget this fall with the other exterior updates. I am keeping the overhead doors with no plans to go bigger than the 7 footers in there. Thanks! Finally able to jump back in and get some work done and I won't lie, I was excited to have a reason to bring this thread back to life. Speaking of inside, I have 12 of the 4ft LED fixtures I've been playing with ready to go up on the ceiling, so I'm really looking forward to better light. With a 1.5 year old (and another due in March) I get limited amounts of time to work on it but we are making steady progress towards having it buttoned up to return to inside work once the snow flies. Then it's adding in the new soffits and getting ready to replace windows/entry doors and put up new siding while I clean it out to prepare for insulation and drywall of the ceiling. Left for this week is cutting in the ridge vent, shingle up around it and put on the ridge vent. I purchased a MAX CN445R3 roofing nailer to complete the job, and it was a worthy investment IMHO as once I realized how the included trigger was intended to be used it didn't double shoot or jam once on me ( ) This was my first roofing job of any sort, thankfully the local lumber yard is more than happy to lend tools like the shingle shovel for removal and offer advice. Having my work area separate from the rest of the house would be very nice. ![]() I work from home and we are goign to run out of extra bedrooms sooner or later. I'd like to add 12 feet to the back of it as finished space for my office. Likely when it's time to side the house so we can justify re-siding the garage. I'd like to lift the garage up and do 4 foot of block, and set it down on the block and re-trim in for new taller overhead doors. Unsure how far I can get before the snow flies with house projects, but I need to get it clean enough to remove 2/3 cars and work in there but still be able to get all 3 in.
